Chile Consumer Electronics Market 2026: What Wholesale Buyers Should Stock

The Chile consumer electronics market is the most premium in Latin America. Apple is the most-used phone brand. Electronics make up nearly half of all online sales. And the country has the second-fastest fixed broadband in the world. For a wholesale buyer, that changes the assortment completely. Chile is not a value market like Colombia or a volume market like Mexico. It is a market where the mid-to-upper tier sells. Brand, warranty and speed matter more than the lowest price. This guide covers the size of the market, which brands lead and which categories move. It also covers the import math. Finally, it shows how to build a stocking plan for Santiago, Valparaíso and the regions.

In Chile, the buyer already knows what they want. Your job is to have it in stock, with the warranty, before the competitor does.

How big is the Chile consumer electronics market in 2026?

Chilean e-commerce reached about 10 billion dollars in 2025, up more than 9% in real terms. Electronics and technology made up nearly half of it, at 4.6 billion dollars. E-commerce now represents 12.6% of total retail, double the pre-pandemic level. The Santiago Chamber of Commerce projects around 6% growth in 2026 to roughly 10.6 billion dollars. [Source: Cámara de Comercio de Santiago 2026]

Read that again: electronics are almost 50% of Chilean online sales. In Colombia the same category is 17.3%. In Mexico, fashion leads. Chile is the one market in the region where technology is not just the largest online category. It is the majority of it. For a distribution buyer, that means marketplace-ready SKUs with strong reviews are not optional. They are the whole game.

ATC serves Chile from Miami and through our Chile office. What follows combines published market data with the reorder patterns we see from resellers in the country.

Which phone brands lead in Chile?

Apple, by usage share. StatCounter data for August 2026 puts Apple at 29.68% of mobile web traffic in Chile. Samsung follows at 25.42%, then Motorola at 12.24% and Xiaomi at 11.54%. [Source: StatCounter 2026] That is the reverse of Colombia, where Xiaomi leads shipments at 27%, and it tells you where Chilean money sits.

Brand (Chile, Aug 2026 usage share) Share What it means for a reseller
Apple 29.7% Largest installed base; iPhone accessories, MagSafe, AirPods-tier audio all attach
Samsung 25.4% Galaxy S and A series; Samsung audio and wearables attach
Motorola 12.2% Carrier channel volume; mid-range
Xiaomi 11.5% Value tier; growing but not dominant as in Colombia and Peru

Omdia’s regional read confirms the tier. Chile, Brazil and Mexico show relative strength in the mid-to-upper smartphone tiers, while more price-sensitive markets carry the entry segment. Rising DRAM and NAND costs are expected to hit the affordability tiers hardest from late in the second quarter. [Source: Omdia 2026] So Chile is partly insulated. Its buyers were already in the tier where memory cost is a smaller share of the price.

The practical consequence is clear. In Chile, stock Samsung Galaxy S alongside A series. Carry Apple-compatible accessories as a first-class line. Treat Xiaomi as the value option, not the anchor.

Which electronics categories are growing in Chile?

Premium audio, gaming, networking, and Apple and Samsung accessories, on top of the phone and laptop base. Chile ranks second in the world for fixed broadband speed at 347.4 Mbps average download. [Source: Fiber Broadband Association 2026] That single fact drives three categories. Mesh Wi-Fi to spread the speed through the home. Gaming hardware that can use it. And streaming audio and video devices.

Category Why it moves in Chile Brands available through ATC
Premium and mid-range smartphones Apple and Samsung lead usage; mid-to-upper tier strength Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi
Apple and Samsung accessories Largest Apple base in the region; MagSafe, USB-C, cases Belkin, Samsung
Audio (earbuds, headphones, speakers) Premium buyer, brand-driven; JBL and Samsung strong JBL, Samsung
Networking (mesh Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 6 and 7 routers) Second-fastest broadband on earth; ISP routers cannot deliver it Linksys
Gaming peripherals and monitors High-speed internet plus disposable income; strong online demand Razer, Acer, Samsung
Laptops and monitors Remote work, students, SMB; USB-C business monitors sell HP, Acer, Dell, Samsung
Wearables and cameras Premium lifestyle categories; GoPro and Insta360 for outdoor tourism Samsung, GoPro, Insta360

Two categories deserve extra attention. First, networking. South America is the fastest-growing router market in the world at 10.47% a year. Mesh systems are the fastest-growing product type. [Source: Mordor Intelligence 2026] Chile’s broadband speed makes it the natural leader. Our wholesale networking guide covers the mix. Second, action cameras. Chile’s outdoor tourism, from Patagonia to the Atacama, creates a GoPro and Insta360 market. It does not exist at the same scale elsewhere in the region.

What does it cost to import electronics into Chile?

Less than almost anywhere else in Latin America, if the goods are U.S.-origin. Chile’s general import duty is 6% on CIF value. IVA is 19%, calculated on CIF plus duty. Under the US-Chile Free Trade Agreement, most consumer electronics with a valid certificate of origin enter at 0% duty. So the total tax drops to roughly 19% of CIF. [Source: Agencia Stephens 2026] For a registered business, that IVA is a recoverable credit.

Compare that with Mexico, where non-USMCA goods now face 10% to 50% duties. Or Colombia, where general tariffs run 5% to 15%. Chile is the cleanest import market in the region. The advantage of routing through a U.S. authorized distributor is therefore not duty avoidance, since the base duty is already low. It is speed, certification and warranty. Our step-by-step guide on how to import electronics from Miami to Chile covers SNA registration and SICEX clearance. It also covers the air versus sea decision. Incoterms for electronics importers explains how to quote the shipment.

One Chile-specific note: electrical products need SEC certification (Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles) for the power supply and plug. Chile uses a Type C and L plug at 220V, so regional SKUs matter. A U.S. SKU with a Type A plug is not sellable without an adapter. Ask your distributor for Chile or Latin America SKUs with SEC-compliant power supplies.

What should a wholesale buyer stock for the Chile consumer electronics market this year?

Build for the premium and mid-upper tier. Lead with Samsung and Apple ecosystems. Add networking and gaming for the broadband base. Use Xiaomi as the value line rather than the core. Electronics are nearly 50% of a 10 billion dollar e-commerce market. So marketplace listings on Falabella, Paris, Mercado Libre and Ripley matter as much as store shelves. [Source: Cámara de Comercio de Santiago 2026] A balanced first order for a Chilean reseller or regional distributor:

  • Phones: Samsung Galaxy S and A series as the anchor. Apple where your channel allows. Xiaomi Redmi Note as the value option.
  • Accessories: Belkin MagSafe-compatible chargers and USB-C GaN chargers first, because the Apple base is the largest in the region. Then Samsung cases and cables. See wholesale mobile accessories.
  • Audio: JBL mid and premium true wireless, one ANC over-ear, one portable speaker. See wholesale audio products.
  • Networking: Linksys mesh kits and a Wi-Fi 7 router. This is the category Chile’s broadband makes uniquely strong.
  • Gaming and monitors: Razer peripherals, one Acer curved gaming monitor, one Samsung Odyssey. See wholesale monitors.
  • SMB: HP and Acer laptops, Dell USB-C business monitors, Microsoft software by ESD. See wholesale software licenses.

Two planning notes. First, Chile’s peak is CyberDay (late May or early June), CyberMonday (October) and Christmas. Stock for CyberMonday must land by late September, so this is the month to order. Our Q4 inventory planning guide covers timing. Second, minimums are set by inner carton. See MOQs in wholesale electronics.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Chile a premium electronics market compared with the rest of Latin America?

Three reasons. Purchasing power is the highest in the region, so the mid-to-upper smartphone tier sells where other markets buy entry level. Apple leads mobile usage at nearly 30%. That is unique in Latin America, and it pulls a premium accessory and audio market behind it. And Chile has the second-fastest fixed broadband in the world at 347 Mbps. That creates demand for mesh Wi-Fi, gaming hardware and streaming devices that slower markets do not have yet. Together those make Chile the market where brand and warranty beat lowest price.

Which accessories sell best alongside phones in Chile?

Apple-compatible first, then Samsung. Apple has the largest usage share in Chile. So MagSafe-compatible chargers, USB-C cables and iPhone cases move faster than in any other Latin American market. Belkin covers the Apple ecosystem well and ships through authorized channels. Samsung own-brand accessories cover the Galaxy base. Add premium JBL audio, because Chilean buyers spend more per earbud than the regional average. Skip the deep value tier; it does not move at Chilean price points.

What is the total import tax on electronics into Chile from the United States?

About 19% of CIF value for most U.S.-origin consumer electronics. Chile’s general duty is 6%. However, the US-Chile Free Trade Agreement brings it to 0% for eligible goods with a certificate of origin. IVA is 19%, charged on CIF plus duty, so with zero duty it is 19% of CIF. For a registered business, IVA is a recoverable tax credit. Landed cost including freight typically runs 22% to 28% above the Miami purchase price for air shipments. Confirm with a licensed Chilean customs agent for your specific tariff codes.

When should inventory arrive for Chile’s peak selling season?

By late September for CyberMonday in October, and by early November for Christmas. Chile runs three major online events. CyberDay in late May or early June, CyberMonday in October, and the December holiday season. Electronics dominate all three, because the category is nearly half of Chilean e-commerce. Sea freight from Miami to Valparaíso or San Antonio takes 15 to 20 days plus clearance. So orders for CyberMonday go in during September. Air freight in 5 to 10 business days covers gaps in high-value items.
